FAQs

Common enquiries, answered

How old does my puppy/kitten need to be to be neutered?

We recommend waiting until your puppy is around 6 months old and your kitten is at 4 months.

How old does my puppy/kitten need to be to be vaccinated?

We recommend vaccinating your puppy at 8 and 10 weeks and your kitten at 9 and 12 weeks.

What do the first vaccinations and yearly boosters cover?

By getting and maintaining your pet’s vaccinations, you are protecting them from a variety of harmful and potentially fatal diseases. Some of these include:

  • Canine Parvovirus normally (Parvo)
  • Rabies
  • Infectious Canine Hepatitis
  • Distemper
  • Leptospirosis

It does not cover Kennel Cough, however we do provide this vaccination separately.

What does a microchip do?

A microchip is NOT a tracking device. It is a safe and permanent chip that contains information about the pet and their owner, which can be universally scanned to help identify and re-unite lost pets with their family. Vets and police stations will all hold microchip scanners so if you ever find a lost animal, take them in to one of these and they will be able to check for a chip.

How often should I flea and worm my pet?

We recommend that you flea your pet once every four weeks, and worm them at least once every six months, although we would suggest that you do it every 3 months.

I want to take my pet abroad. What should I do?

A pet will generally need one vaccination and a passport when travelling within the EU. They are allowed to travel 21 days after the vaccination, so it’s important that you plan this well in advance. We are happy to go through any questions may you have in more detail. We would also recommend taking a look at this website.
